Like all other business which keep information about people, we are governed by the Data Protection Act 1998. (Our registration number is Z6891565.)

The 1998 Act is significantly stricter than its predecessor, the Data Protection Act 1984, largely as a result of European Union requirements - it implements a new Directive on data protection.  In particular, it is not now lawful (with some exceptions) to keep information about people in a database without their consent.  For background information about data protection issues, see the website of the Information Commissioner.

Comments and queries about our books are always welcome;  but in e-mailing or writing to us please remember not to give the names of other people (or any other details which would allow them to be identified) unless they agree. We don't reveal details of customers to any other organisations.

For the purposes of the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002, copies of contracts made electronically are not filed and are not accessible; but we are always happy to provide details to the customer concerned, under the Data Protection Act 1998 or otherwise. Contracts are concluded only in English. There are no relevant codes of conduct to which we subscribe.
