Our first book was published in 1993. Since then we have gone on to produce a series of titles, focusing mainly on the property law of England and Wales, including its history. For many years we operated as a partnership, A. W. & C. Barsby, but in the summer of 2011 the business became a company, so we are now Barsby Ltd, registered in England, No. 7685382.

Publishers are not regulated as such. But we have to comply with the “Distance Selling” regulations (the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, SI 2000/2334) when we sell printed books by mail order. (These regulations do not apply to our Live Law material.) Under the Legal Deposit Libraries Act 2003, we are required to send copies of newly-published books to the six copyright libraries.
